The WPA Historic Parks Series II set of eight notecards are based on the historical posters and this set includes Petrified Forest National Monument (before Petrified Forest was designated a National Park in 1962), Bandelier National Monument, Yellowstone National Park, Great Smoky Mountains National Park, Fort Marion National Monument, Wind Cave National Park, See America Cave, See America Arches.
Between 1935 and 1943 the WPA’s Federal Art Project printed over two million posters in 35,000 different designs to stir the public’s imagination for education, theater, health, safety, and travel. Due to their fragile nature, only two thousand original posters have survived.
Continuing with the original screen printing method of making the soft-textured posters, Ranger Doug’s Enterprises has resurrected the original art form to make these available to the public again.
