Dawn of the Dinosaurs

Dawn of the Dinosaurs: The Late Triassic in the American Southwest (Hardcover)

Petrified Forest Museum Association is proud to announce the arrival of their latest publication, “Dawn of the Dinosaurs: The Late Triassic in the American Southwest.”

Exposed in outcrops in the American Southwest, highlighted across the Colorado Plateau and provide tantalizing insights into an ancient world that was the prelude to the age of the dinosaurs. Dawn of the Dinosaurs was written to help understand the scientific processes of paleontology, the drive and spirit of exploration and efforts to understand what the fossils preserved can tell us about the past ecosystems that flourished over 200 million years ago in a world very different today.

In addition to developing this publication, the Paleovista LLC is working to develop an App that would allow a more immersive and interactive experience based upon this Triassic world. We are hopeful that such an ambitious effort will provide another way for people to learn about, explore, experience and connect with the treasure trove of Triassic materials in information being discovered, interpreted and shared with the world.

Thank you for your interest and we encourage you to explore and learn more about our area and activities happening at National Parks in our area!

For those interested in a more immersive, learning experience, be sure to check out the Petrified Forest Field Institute. Classes and hikes are offered that will get you into the field whether you are interested in getting your hand dirty looking for fossils, exploring ancient rock art, photography, hiking to remote locations or spending the day getting a full overview of the park’s treasures.
