Artist-in-Resident: Kah-Wah-Lin

Kah-Wah-LinDates: July 2016

Art Form & Inspiration

My passions in landscape and travel photography lead me to teach and share my knowledge with others. Currently, I operate a company, Kah-Wai Lin Photography LLC that specializes in photography education, exhibition and magazine publishing.

I am the editor-in-chief of Lightscape Vision Magazine. I am also active in serving the photographic community. I am the Chairman of Metropolitan Chapter, Chairman of Tops Committee and Star Ratings Director of Nature Division at the Photographic Society of America; and I am the USA representative of Global Photographic Union.

Biography

Kah-Wah-Lin Photo

I am originally from Malaysia, but I have lived in other parts of the world since 2001. I attended medical school in Ukraine and graduate school in Sweden.

Since 2012, I have made my home in New Jersey, USA. Specializing in fine art landscape, travel and architectural photography, my images and articles have appeared in numerous publications and exhibitions and have received many awards.

To date, I have received over 40 international distinction or honor titles conferred by photographic societies around the world and have received over hundred awards at national and international photographic contests and exhibitions, include many gold medals and best of show.

I started photography when I was 15, and I took up photography more seriously when I was in Sweden. I was very much engaged in photographing historical architectures.

At the same time, I operated a company specializing in architectural photography and virtual reality tour. I have always been in love with nature and I wanted to capture the beauty of nature in ways that preserve the spirit arising from the scene.

Since I moved to USA, I have been fascinated by the unique American landscapes that have now become my main source of inspiration.

Today, I continue with my passion to explore and discover. Hence, I would like to share my favorite quote from H. Jackson Brown Jr.

Twenty years from now, you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.
